I Just Want Peace. Who’s With Me?

Peace is so elusive these days in America.

What happened to peace? Now everything is political, even hurricanes. There are Americans that hate our president to the point of wishing Hurricane Irma would make a direct hit on his Florida estate. 

They’re rooting…for the hurricane.

Full disclosure: Megan Fox, the author of the linked PJ Media article is a friend of mine.

Now, back to peace.

Megan and I belong to a writers group where members are encouraged to share their posts and articles to facilitate discussion. Yet we could not find peace even there! One member began an argument about the headline of the article and almost derailed the discussion on the division of Americans.

The point was that “half” — okay, so maybe not really 50%, but way too many — Americans are so filled with rage that they would wish a house to be destroyed even though the president is not inside it, therefore actually wishing great harm on the people who live nearby. And they also WANT people who voted for Trump to die.

What word will suffice to describe such people? I can’t think of one that won’t make me as bad as they are. I pretty much agree with Megan. I don’t know if Americans can reconcile their differences. All I want for every single person in the path of this monster storm is safety and protection of their lives.

I don’t want anyone to die. I don’t care who voted for who. I am praying for all. Why are there so many others who have lost the ability to see the humanity of people different than themselves? How did they lose their empathy and compassion?

A Prayer  Against Storms At each ‘†’, make the Sign of The Cross Jesus Christ a King of Glory has come in Peace.† God became man,† and the Word was made flesh.† Christ was born of a Virgin.† Christ suffered.† Christ was crucified.† Christ died.† Christ rose from the dead.† Christ ascended into Heaven.† Christ conquers.† Christ reigns.† Christ orders.† May Christ protect us from all storms and lightning† Christ went through their midst in Peace,† and the word was made flesh.† Christ is with us with Mary.† Flee you enemy spirits because the Lion of the Generation of Juda, the Root David, has won.† Holy God!† Holy Powerful God!† Holy Immortal God!† Have mercy on us. Amen!

And twitter isn’t the only place where Democrats spread their hate.

I had lunch with one of my best friends today. She happens to be a Republican committee person for her township. Her neighbors know she’s a Republican, and some of them don’t like it. She just keeps doing her thing, though.

Today she told me of another incident in her neighborhood. The Democrat committee person lives there, too. My friend was out for a run, and saw the Dem and his wife coming toward her, walking their dog. She said she got nervous, but made up her mind to be nice, as always. She smiled and said hello.

The Dem looked at her with disdain, muttered the word hello, and then turned his head a bit and spat on the ground before walking on past with his wife and dog. The two of us talk about these things like they are normal, because stuff like this has been going on for years. Then we tell each other to just keep going and praying for peace.

I want peace!!!

But we who are not Liberals can’t make peace happen. The others have to also want it or it will remain elusive and eventually disappear, to be replaced by something nobody wants. I keep praying for our country to heal. That’s about all we can do right now.

Jesus, I trust in you.


Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

I was going to end this post with a hymn, or a song with lyrics about peace, but I’m not really feeling it.

Seems more like a battle.
